Swirls of filling, flaky pastry, and an irresistible excuse to say “I’ll just have one more”—pinwheels are snack-sized spirals of joy. They’re easy to whip up, dangerously easy to inhale, and guaranteed to disappear from the table faster than you can say “who ate the last one?”

Makes a pretty large batch
500g grated cheese
500g diced bacon
2 small to medium onions finely diced
1 beaten egg
2 apples, grated
5-6 sheets puff pastry
Mix all ingredients except for the pastry.
Spread a layer (about 5-10mm thick) of mixture onto a pastry sheet leaving about 2cm at one end.
Roll up fairly tightly (dab a bit of water on the bare 2 cm strip so it will stick).
Slice the roll into about 1-2cm strips and place on a tray with baking paper.
Bake for 20-25 minutes at 180°C
